The Annual Awards Program was established in 1990 to honor those ASA-member companies and individuals who have provided an exceptionally outstanding performance during the previous 12 months.
-
There are seven categories recognizing ASA Member companies and individuals, plus the prestigious safety awards for outstanding safety records from various categories.
ASA SUBCONTRACTOR OF THE YEAR: This ASA member strongly supports ASA; is a skilled subcontractor; works in a safe manner; and is responsible in making payments to suppliers and other subcontractors.

ASA AFFILIATE OF THE YEAR: This ASA member company supports the chapter by participating in and sponsoring events, and by encouraging its employees to volunteer on committees. This company demonstrates fair business practices and high standards of integrity.
ASA SAFETY AWARD: Safety performance can be measured in numerous ways (number of injuries, number of reported near hits, training hours, etc.). However, a widely accepted measurement is a company’s injury rate calculated by: (# of injuries and illness x 200,000) / Employee hours worked = Incidence Rate. Additionally, the size of the business should also be considered and is defined as: Large Businesses – > 500,000 hours worked in a calendar year, Medium Businesses – 100,000-499,000 hours in a calendar year, Small Business = < 99,999 hours worked in a calendar year.
-
All ASA member companies are eligible to nominate candidates in all categories. You are encouraged to submit three candidates in each of the eight categories, but you may submit fewer if you so choose. There is one vote per company.
When nominations have closed, the top three most-named candidates in each category will be listed on a final ballot. All ASA member companies will be eligible to vote for their favorite candidate in each category.
-
Once the winners are selected, they are honored at an ASA Awards & Installation Banquet. This is a very special evening, not just for our winners, but for all attendees. The awards banquet takes place at the end of July each year.
